The German Doctors carry out voluntary medical missions in developing countries and help where misery is part of everyday life. They are committed to a life in dignity and take care of the health
health care and training for disadvantaged people in the regions where they work.
The overarching goal of the 2013 relaunch was to generate more donations via the digital channel and to strengthen donors’ loyalty to the respective projects. To this end, a new form of transparency was to be created throughout the entire donation process – from the initial contact with the potential donor to communication after the donation had been made – in order to reassure donors that their money would be converted into direct help.
The success of the project is reflected in impressive figures and illustrates the effectiveness of the relaunch. The number of visitors has doubled within a very short space of time. It is particularly pleasing that the number of new donors has even tripled since the relaunch, which indicates that the revamped platform has been successful in attracting new users.
The digital space is a key factor for success, as online donations have grown five times faster than offline donations.
The focus of the 2013 relaunch was a storytelling platform. The individual project pages tell the story of the people on the ground – from the perspective of doctors and volunteers. Visual media such as pictures and videos impressively convey the events at the respective project location and give donors a detailed insight into the work of the organization and ultimately the impact of the individual donations at every stage of the donation process.
True to the motto: With German Doctors, it is not only the help that stays, but also those who help: the donors.
German Doctors makes intensive use of the possibilities of testing and conversion rate optimization on the website – from exit intention layers to surveys in the donation form.
Logically, with continuous optimization of the website, no major relaunch is necessary. For this reason, the grid in the existing CMS was adapted to the current state of the art and the design was given a moderate overhaul. Thanks to these optimizations, the website looks almost as good as new.
In addition, the website was adapted for other countries: in the meantime, the Austrian Doctors and Swiss Doctors had been founded and were able to build on the German base.
If that hasn’t convinced you yet, just take a look at the entire website. Find out more about the German Doctors and our work.
